Is that rock heavy?

I remember hearing a story that really made me think. It acted as a reminder of how we can make life harder on ourselves. Definitely one to share.

It goes like this. A Buddhist monk is walking in nature with his students, and one of them notices a large rock. They simply ask the teacher, “is that rock heavy”.

His response is significant. He simply says, “only if you try to pick it up”. Think about that for a moment.

In our lives, are we finding challenges that aren’t necessary? Pondering questions that will only distract us or filling our heads with obstacles that aren’t really in our way?

I keep having to think back to this story. It’s often when my mind has wondered and I’m worrying about things that are out of my direct control. Things I could easily pass by, like the rock. Maybe it’s something you should remember.

The Wellbeing Website is far more than this. Take a look at the menu to see how I can help you. Make sure you follow what I do as well. It’s growing all the time.
